Qatar University (QU)’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering will organise and host the 11th edition of the ACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA), an international forum for researchers and practitioners interested in the advances of computer systems and their applications.

The event will be held from November 10-13 under the patronage of HE Dr Hessa al-Jaber, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, and under the scientific patronage of the ACS and IEEE institutions.

Details of the conference were revealed at a press briefing held at QU recently, which was led by College of Engineering (CENG) dean Dr Rashid Alammari and ICTQatar head of marketing and public relations Hussain Abdulla Salatt. The briefing also included an agreement signed by the two parties for gold sponsorship of the conference.

“We look forward to welcoming all the participants to Qatar and to demonstrating, along with our partners, the pace of development in ICT that is happening in the country,” said Dr Alammari, expressing pride in the college and the department being selected to organise and host the conference. “I also extend many thanks of appreciation to ICTQatar for their sponsorship of the event at such a high level.”

The AICCSA comes with international recognition and will see the participation of researchers from 33 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, the US and Australia, with several keynote speakers from prestigious institutions such as Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (US), as well as the scientific and organisational involvement of local partner institutions QCRI, ICTQatar and Qatar National Research Fund.

QU students, through support from conference sponsors, will participate in conference activities to benefit from opportunities to network with international students, professors and industry professionals, and deepen their knowledge of current and emerging ICT fields.

A total of 260 conference papers have been received, with 40% being accepted for presentation at the conference. Accepted papers will appear in the Conference Proceedings, which will be published by the IEEE Computer Society and included in the IEEE Xplore online library.
