Close on the heels of celebrating the first anniversary of her 3,000 sq ft store at the Gate Mall, Katharine Pooley, known for fine furnishings and quality interior design service, is celebrating the company’s 10th year anniversary this month.
To mark the special occasion, the award-winning British interior designer has collaborated with a number of leading names including British department store Fortnum & Mason and Thai artisans Lotus Arts de Vivre.
Pooley’s luxury design and lifestyle boutique at the Gate Mall caters to the Qatari taste by incorporating more colour into its collection and mixing the classical with the contemporary. Her breadth of knowledge and ideas for creative, elegant and inspirational solutions has led her to create sumptuous, inspiring interiors for the most discerning clients.
For Fortnum & Mason, Katharine has fashioned a bespoke “Imperial Hamper” available in two striking finishes – tanned or cosmopolitan black leather — to suit all tastes and adventures. Inside, the Jacques china collection which was made in Limoges, France adds a delicate touch to the cleverly designed concept.
The latest addition to the Katharine Pooley and Fortnum & Mason collection is the spectacular festive top table and decorations, including china, napkins, glasses and coasters that highlight the craftsmanship and expertise of a first class interior design service. Clean, geometric shapes and silhouettes feature throughout, complementing the deco-inspired pattern of the china. The delightful finishing touches are the two baubles, “Firework” and “Snowflake”, made from glass in Germany.
Lotus Arts de Vivre brings a new dimension to the already extensive Katharine Pooley catalogue. From its origins in jewellery design, the company has now become an all-around design company, producing a wide range of exclusive jewellery, home décor items, furniture, carpets and several lifestyle accessories including chess sets, shoes, humidors, objects d’art, and items by private commission.
Pooley said of the milestone occasion: “The past decade has taken me on a brilliant adventure, starting in London and most recently to the Middle East with the opening of the Doha boutique. My team and I have worked extremely hard - our expertise and intimate market understanding and analysis brings projects from concept to final profitable management efficiently, swiftly and cost-effectively. We look forward to another decade of beautiful design.”
The refined elegance of her design sensibilities echoes her multi-hued personality. That’s because Pooley has allowed her love for travel and adventure – summiting some of the world’s highest mountains, crossing the Sahara on horseback, or driving a dog sled across the Arctic – translate into her design philosophy. Having travelled 255 countries and lived and worked in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Vietnam, Pooley flagged off her first international outpost in Doha, last year.
