Unbeaten Dahor De Brugere was drawn one during the Qatar Arabian World Cup draw that was held in Paris yesterday. The world’s 20 top class Pure Arabians will be in the line-up for the Euros one million contest tomorrow at the Longchamp racecourse.

Qatar will be represented by six other contenders in a bid to regain the World Cup, which was won by UAE’s Mushrae in 2013. Farh (14), Djainka Des Forges (20), Al Anga (9), Al Atique (6), Kalino (4) and Al Tair (2) will break from these stalls and battle for supremacy.

Among the other international contestants, Omani challenger Raddad is drawn 15, while Vulain De Clois is in stall 14. Ghadafar Al Khalediah and Valentin are drawn 10 and 5. Another notable contender Majd Al Uraiq was drawn on the outside stall number 16, while Djet Taouy (13), Sannma (8), Djarnizam (11), Mysa De Monlau (19), Al Moutaweek (18) Al Hibaab (7) and Amaretto (12) complete the fray.

“It does not matter which draw one gets, but the most important thing is to get past the winning post first. I am happy with the draw and I expect a very exciting race. Dahor De Brugere is the horse to beat. He has been unbeaten and has a lot of class. Al Tair and Kalino are also in good form and should run a good race,” Umm Qarn trainer Alban de Mieulle told the Gulf Times.

French tennis ace Marion Bartoli alongwith Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club general manager Sami Jassim al-Boenain drew the lot, while the connections of the participants were present on the occasion.

“It is a fair draw for Dahor De Brugere, who likes to go to the front and I think the number one draw will help him. We hope he can prove himself on Sunday,” PR and Media Director Nasser Sharida al-Kaabi said.

QREC general manager Sami Jassim al-Boenain said: “The draw has been good for Qatar owned horses and in any case for a long distance race, the draw really does not matter that much. It is for the jockeys to get into the position that suits their horses. I believe Al Tair will be force to reckon with as he always comes back strongly a couple of poor runs. This could be the race that he will come back stronger. Qatar has the opportunity to regain the title.”
