Katara - the Cultural Village will organise a number of programmes such as drama, circus and fireworks, in addition to other recreational activities, during the Eid al-Adha festival.
It will also conduct events in connection with the astronomy exhibition held during the holy month of Ramadan this year.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, told a press conference yesterday that this year’s Eid al-Adha festival will have some exceptionally enlightening and fascinating programmes. “The events of the festival will continue for four days and some of them will be the first of their kind in the Arab world, mixing knowledge with recreation. It will host several programmes, which will make people enjoy the festival thoroughly.”
“A drama directed by Qatari artiste Salem al-Mansouri will be staged at Katara for three days. The drama has won several awards, including a recent award in Italy.”
“In addition, there will be fireworks for four days, from 10pm to 10.15pm. There will be a number of informative shows prior to the fireworks, which are connected to Katara’s Ramadan activities on astronomy. Katara, in addition, will host a circus on ice for 60 days. The show will be held in the southern part of Katara with two shows a day,” Dr al-Sulaiti added.
Dr al-Sulaiti emphasised that there will be impressive programmes that narrate the story of the universe and thrilling fireworks resembling the big bang of the universe. There will also be artistic shows that depict the story of the formation of the solar system through a huge show of “flying planets” that will light up the skies of Katara.
