QU boardreshuffled

 

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Emiri Decision No 67 of 2014 reshuffling Qatar University’s Board of Regents.

HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani is the new chairman and HE Sheikh Dr Abdullah bin Ali bin Saud al-Thani, vice-president of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development for Education, is the vice chairman.

The members of the Board are HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr Hessa Sultan al-Jaber, HE Minister of Development Planning and Statistics Dr Saleh Mohamed Salem al-Nabit, HE Chairman of Qatari Businessmen Association Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, HE Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah al-Thani, and up to seven eminent personalities to be picked by chairman of the Board from inside or outside the country.

The Board serves a four-year renewable term.

 

Qatar business
incubation centre

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday inaugurated the Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC) in the New Industrial Area.

Several ministers and businessmen attended the meeting. The Prime Minister was briefed on some of the ideas and projects that QBIC is undertaking.

The centre’s goal is to develop Qatari companies and provide support in order to increase profitability of businesses in Qatar. It also provides a number of workshops to provide the skill and experience needed to implement an action plan.

 

Minister meets
US ambassador

HE Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council (SEC), Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, yesterday met US Ambassador Dana Shell Smith.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed co-operation in education.

 

Qatar-Turkey
ties reviewed

HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari, met yesterday with Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu.

They discussed means of enhancing cultural relations between the two countries and agreed to exchange visits at the level of Culture Ministers.

The Turkish minister later left Doha.

 

Maritime pact
with Kenya

HE the Minister of Transport Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti left for Nairobi yesterday.

During the visit the minister will sign a maritime transport agreement between Qatar and Kenya and hold talks with Kenyan officials on ways of boosting bilateral relations.A
