Chennai police have arrested Tamil-Telugu starlet Sruthi Chandrelekha who was on the run after the January 18 murder of her husband.

Sruthi,22, married Prinzo, a film distributor and an unsuccessful businessman from Salem in 2013. The couple settled down in Chennai but Prinzo got into debts and decided to shoot pornographic films and tried to force Shruti to act in them. She refused and when he left for Bangalore, she plotted his murder along with his financier friends.

On his return to Chennai, Shruti gave him poisoned milk and her accomplices strangled him. The gang then transported the body to Tirunelveli district and buried it at Palayamkottai.

They returned to Chennai and divided Prinzo’s Rs7.5mn among themselves and separated. However Prinzo’s brother filed a police complaint following which all suspects except Shruti were arrested.

The police arrested her in Bangalore.

Car showroom
robbed and
guard killed

A gang killed a 58-year-old security guard and looted Rs900,000 from a car showroom at Seelanaikenpatty in Salem last week.

The incident occurred at 2.30am, when Periyasamy’s companion Chinnathambi had gone for a tea break. Periyasamy was clobbered to death with a metal rod. The gang then opened the showroom’s shutters and removed the cash from the desk using Perisamy’s key. They escaped before Chinnathambi’s return.

Police suspect it to be an inside job, because two female employees were recently suspended for embezzling Rs2.4mn. These women signed over their father’s house to the showroom owners to avoid arrest.

The showroom owners had negotiated the sale of the house and had collected an advance of Rs900,000 from a buyer. It was this amount that was stolen.

Police reprimanded the owners for not installing CCTV cameras.
