Health centres of the Primary Health Care Department will continue a vaccination campaign against meningitis, pneumonia and influenza until the beginning of October.

The campaign targets people going for Umrah and Haj as vaccination protects from infectious diseases and prevents their spread to others, especially with an increased risk of infection from diseases transmitted through direct contact with people at large gatherings.

Dr Khaled Awad, a specialist of public health at clinics section of the Primary Health Care Department, said it is necessary to get vaccinated especially during the Haj season, in addition to following safety guidelines with regard to personal hygiene.
