Qatar has stressed its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their just cause to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Addressing the urgent session of the Arab Parliament held in Cairo to discuss developments in Gaza and efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement, HE the Speaker of Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi said that Qatar’s diplomatic efforts have been ongoing since the start of the attack on Gaza.
The efforts have been led by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. The State of Qatar also continued to provide emergency aid to affected citizens of Gaza, the Speaker added.
Al-Khulaifi added that Israel’s attack on Gaza was in violation of all international agreements and conventions. He also criticised the United Nations Security Council for its inaction. The Speaker of the Advisory Council called on the international community to assume its responsibility in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Al-Khulaifi praised Gaza and its people for staying strong in the face of the attack, despite the lack of food, water and medicine.
He called on all involved to assume responsibility and live up to the expectations of the Arab people in supporting the Palestinian cause, particularly in Gaza.
