Women grieve yesterday during the funeral of a woman who was killed in the rocket attack in El Arish.

At least seven civilians and a soldier were killed late Sunday when three rockets slammed into the restive Sinai Peninsula, Egypt’s interior ministry and medical sources said. One rocket fell outside a shop in the south of El Arish, capital of north Sinai, killing the seven civilians, including a child, and injuring 25 other people, the ministry said. Two rockets targeting a military post followed, killing one soldier and wounding three others, medical sources told AFP. Security forces are struggling to quell an Islamist insurgency that has killed scores of soldiers and policemen in the peninsula bordering Israel and the Gaza Strip.
