West End Park head of Sport Michael Scallon and other officials present Zaid of Wings Doha CC the Man of the Match award.
Having suffered a heavy defeat in their first match, Wings Doha CC bounced back in the West End Park Ramadan Tournament with a 70-run victory over Kerala CC on Tuesday.
The tournament is being organised under the patronage of Qatar Olympic Committee secretary general HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani at West End Park Stadium.
Having won the toss, Wings chose to bat and posted 180 for 5 on board riding on a half century by Arvind (54). Zaid pitched in with 29 runs. For Kerala CC, Faisel took three wickets while Sameer claimed one.
When Kerala CC took to the crease, Zaid ensured that he contributed with the ball too taking four wickets. Teammate Zain impressed too with his three-wicket haul as Kerala CC were bundled out for 110 with over two overs to spare. Nazim (24) and Sirat (23) were the only ones to show some resistance on behalf of Kerala CC.
Zaid was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Wings had enlisted the support of Sri Lankan T20 international Dilhara Lokuhettige to bolster firepower and this acted as a catalyst for a much-needed win.
West End Park chairman Mana Ibrahim al-Mana said: “Congratulations to the participant teams for putting on a great spectacle. The Ramadan Tournament is becoming more exciting with each passing match. As all cricket fans, I will be watching with interest as the tournament develops.”
