HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has issued decisions to upgrade the Ministry of Interior’s organisational structure.

According to the decisions, a number of departments were merged under the title “general directorate” to become nine directorates in total, namely: General Directorate of Public Security; General Directorate of Legal Affairs; General Directorate of Nationality, Ports and Expatriate Affairs; General Directorate of Coasts and Border Security; General Directorate of Civil Defence; General Directorate of Criminal Investigation; General Directorate of Traffic; General Directorate of Information Systems; and General Directorate of Supply and Equipment.

Two new directorates were introduced, namely: Directorate of Community Police and Directorate of Inspection and Oversight, along with previously existing central directorates.
