Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation - is working to diversify its activities and programmes within its Ramadan Festival Qur’an and Astronomy, to have greater focus on the concepts of astronomy and their relationship with the Holy Qur’an. |
An exhibition of the solar system and its planets, where information and photographs of the planets have been displayed, was launched yesterday at Katara Building 18.
The exhibition also includes models of the planets, specifying their location and size. Many visitors have expressed their admiration at the display and described it as “very informative”.
Meanwhile, religious lectures have been conducted in co-operation with Qatar Charity as part of the programme ‘The gifts of faith’. Renowned Muslim scholars deliver the daily lectures at the Katara Grand Mosque and the attendance is steadily increasing every day. Some lectures also reflect on the theme of the festival to expand on related facts in modern science and the Holy Qur’an.
Katara has allocated a site for telescope enthusiasts with explanations on stars’ locations and how to identify them, which will be open from 8pm today near the Amphitheatre.
