Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Co (Tasweeq), in co-operation with Qatar Petroleum’s (QP) Industrial Cities Directorate, is sponsoring an environmental awareness campaign at Ras Laffan and Mesaieed Industrial Cities to educate employees on saving energy and conserving nature.

The campaign, entitled “Go Green to Save Energy and Preserve Nature,” aims to inform the public on how they can help protect the environment by consuming less energy at work and at home.

Saad al-Kuwari, chief executive officer, Tasweeq, said: “We are proud to sponsor the ‘Go Green’ campaign of QP Industrial Cities. Tasweeq is always very supportive of environment-friendly initiatives to further create awareness about nature preservation.”

QP’s Industrial Cities Directorate has been promoting HSE initiatives and campaigns in both industrial cities for many years. Aside from the “Go Green” campaign, Tasweeq will be sponsoring a second one which will be launched in November this year.

Tasweeq is urging everyone in both industrial cities to contribute in saving energy and preserving nature. Under the campaign, leaflets were printed and distributed in all areas of Ras Laffan and Mesaieed Industrial Cities. In addition, large campaign billboards were put up and an online campaign was implemented to effectively create awareness across all employees,” al-Kuwari said.

He added that the initiative falls within Tasweeq’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy for 2014.

The “Go Green” campaign was launched on June 16 in both industrial cities and enumerates several measures on how to save energy and conserve nature.

These include using rechargeable batteries; donating used items; reusing scrap paper by printing on both sides; cleaning air filters of AC every two weeks; and ensuring optimal tire pressure of vehicles.
