Most traffic accidents on Rawdat Rashid Road involve trucks coming from Salwa Road to Al Shamal, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported, quoting a senior official from the Dukhan Security Department.
There is a single track on either side of the road and, besides violations by truck drivers, a number of accidents are also caused by stunt driving, racing and driving without licence, the report states.
In a statement to the traffic magazine, Major Falah Saleh al-Ruwaili said the primary tasks of the traffic and patrols section of the department is to control traffic on the main roads and ensure road safety in the area and around schools, according to the report.
The most common violations include speeding, not wearing seat belts and using the mobile phone while driving.
