Qatar Development Bank (QDB) recently concluded a workshop that identified best practices in management of international commercial exports and enhancing businesses productivity.
The workshop, entitled “Uniform Customs Procedures for Documentary Credits” (UCPDC), was organised by QDB’s export arm, Tasdeer, and was presented by ICC Banking Commission Market Intelligence Group (MIG) chairman Vincent O’ Brien.
QDB chief executive officer Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa said the bank’s sponsorship of the workshop embodies QDB’s commitment to identify and strengthen the knowledge requirements of export documentary credits in accordance with international standards and practices.
“We should always stay up to date with the latest practices to promote Qatari companies by providing exporters with financial solutions, credit insurance, and advisory services in helping them boost their export capabilities,” al-Khalifa said.
He added that Tasdeer was created to develop and promote Qatari businesses by providing export credit guarantees and financial solutions designed to mitigate risk for exporters.
QDB also provides consulting services, feasibility studies, market research, and other services that help small and medium enterprises in Qatar build the right skills and grow their businesses.
The UCPDC workshop was attended by professionals from the finance community, companies interested in the export sector and the wider business community.
