Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation yesterday signed an agreement with Qatar University (QU) to enhance mutual co-operation.
Under the agreement, students of QU’s College of Arts and Science will be entitled to use facilities at Katara to prepare them for a professional future.
Scholarships would also be granted by Katara in the fields of arts, culture and heritage to students.
The agreement was signed by Prof Sheikha al-Misnad, QU president, and Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager, Katara.
“Katara works to enhance the local culture and creative scene and aims at spreading international co-operation among different world cultures. We want also to preserve the Qatari heritage and boost the national identity. For this we are active in making partnerships with various local and global organisations to help attain such targets,” pointed out Dr al-Sulaiti.
Prof al-Misnad said the two institutions enjoy very good relations. “The agreement lays broad guidelines to strengthen cooperation. It would also be modified according to the needs of Katara and the demands
of students,” she said.
Dr al-Sulaiti said that such agreements of cooperation with government entities are open and not limited with a time span, as Katara offers its services and facilities to them free of charge.
He added that fields of co-operation could cover a broad scope of activities and related fields, yet things would be scheduled according to what the needs.
The agreement is set to benefit both QU students and Katara employees by way of training workshops, and education opportunities for both. Support of scientific research in fields of common interests is an integral part of the agreement.
