Restaurants at Katara – the Cultural Village have been recognised with several excellence awards.
Katara establishments have won four prizes from Time Out Doha - L’Wzaar (best seafood restaurant for the second successive year), Saffron Lounge (best Indian restaurant for the fourth year), le Vesuvio (best Italian restaurant) and Albisana Shawarma and Kunafa (highly commended, best budget restaurant category).
The ceremony was attended by a number of well-known personalities in the hospitality and restaurant industry.
The list of nominees from Katara also included Sukar Pasha Ottoman Lounge in the Middle Eastern and North African category. Its team had recently won three gold medals and one bronze medal at the world hospitality competition in London (2014) as well as five gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal at the international gastronomy festival in Turkey, in addition to the best team award at the festival.
Besides, Chac’Late was nominated in the best café category at the Time Out Doha awards.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, said: “The selection of a variety of international restaurants in Katara reflects another aspect of culture - cuisine - as an important aspect of people’s heritage.”
Kholoud al-Hail, CEO of Aspire Katara Hospitality, stressed that the awards confirm the efforts of AKH to further raise the standards of the hospitality sector in Qatar.
