Chinese President Xi Jinping met HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud.
HE al-Mahmoud conveyed HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s greetings to the Chinese president who reciprocated the Emir’s greetings.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the fourth summit of heads of states and prime ministers of member states to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
HE al-Mahmoud arrived in Beijing on Monday leading a delegation to the 4th summit of the heads of state and prime ministers of the member states to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Meanwhile, Qatar has signed the instrument of accession to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia to become a member-state after having the observer status.
The instrument of accession was signed by HE Ahmad bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud.
Speaking in a press conference after signing the instrument, HE the Deputy Premier expressed pleasure that the State of Qatar has become a member state of the CICA.
He praised China’s active and important role as a country and as a member of the UN Security Council that is responsible for international peace and security.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister underlined that Qatar and China enjoy a strategic relationship, and highlighted China’s role in bolstering mutual co-operation between the two countries during this period.
Qatar is looking forward to further developing co-operation with China in the fields of energy, economy, politics and investment, HE the Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs said.
In a speech he gave during the Conference, Al-Mahmoud thanked all CICA members for their support and facilitating Qatar’s accession to CICA.
