HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will be the guest of honour at the Qatar University Class of 2014 men’s graduation ceremony today at Qatar National Convention Centre.

HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, vice chairperson of the Supreme Education Council, will honour women students at their ceremony tomorrow.

QU graduates for the academic year 2013-2014, who total 1,200, will receive their degree certificates. This includes those who graduated in Summer and Fall 2013 and those who are expected to graduate in Spring and Summer 2014.

This year’s graduation ceremonies are being held in May to accommodate time and logistic constraints in deference to the holy month of Ramadan and to the availability of QNCC.

The ceremonies, to be led by QU president Prof Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad, will be attended by vice presidents, deans, faculty, graduates and their families, alumni, as well as VIP guests.

QU vice president for student affairs Dr Omar al-Ansari congratulated the graduates on their success.

“This is not the end of your journey but the start of a new and exciting phase in your life.  You are ready to embark on your future and contribute to your country’s bright tomorrow, utilising all the knowledge, skills and experience you acquired,” al-Ansari said.
