Students from the German International School of Doha sold raffle tickets at this year’s German May Ball, jointly organised by the German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK) and the German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ) and raised QR8,350.
The amount was donated to the school for educational development and will be used to upgrade the school’s library.
Filled with glitz and glamour, the fifth annual May Ball which took place on Friday night here was well attended by German and international entrepreneurs and guests. With a walk on the red carpet and photographs to commemorate the unforgettable night, every guest was treated like a star from the second they entered the ballroom at Intercontinental Doha The City.
Q-Auto with its German automotive brands Volkswagen and Audi was the Diamond Sponsor of this year’s May Ball. Platinum Sponsors of the event included TRAGS Trading and Agency Services and Lufthansa German Airlines.
“We at Volkswagen are proud to be associated with such German companies that are involved in helping the country build infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup besides accomplishing its vision 2030,” Stefan Craita, the Marketing Manager of Q-Auto told Commmunity. He said the Q-Auto has a “huge presence” in automotive sector and always strives to be in line with Qatar’s development goals for infrastructure development and transportation.
The dignitaries present at the event surely agreed on the huge success of the evening, underlining that relations between the State of Qatar and Germany have been thriving.
The host of the evening, Stand Up comedian Ahmed Gamal entertained the crowd and DJ Carl provided the music. One of the highlights of the night was the live violin show by Soledad and Annemarie. Motivated, many guests joined the violinist on the floor to perform classical waltz and modern grooves.
Everyone present enjoyed the glamorous evening with its combination of fine dining, dancing, business and social networking and charity donation.
Smartly-dressed students from the German International School distributed the raffle tickets. Oliver Moritz, the The Chairman of the Board of the school, told the audience about the needs of the school. “The funds would particularly contribute in upgradation of our library and the facilities related to it,” he told Community.
Through Bingo, a game of chance, a member of the audience won a return ticket to Europe by Lufthansa Airline. Many other guests also walked away with gifts and prizes through different lucky draws.
The German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK) is the official institution authorised by the German Federal Government and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce to represent the interests of German companies and associations in Qatar.
The GBCQ, managed by AHK Qatar, is a non-governmental and non-profit association aiming to provide a platform where business representatives of both nations can meet and exchange views and ideas.
