The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has called on specialised companies to submit pre-qualification applications to design and build pedestrian flyovers, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.  Ashghal, according to the report,  “intends to determine a list of the qualified companies to call for  tenders for varied projects, including the design and buildings of flyovers”. The authority plans to build multi-layer flyovers at different locations in the country, aiming to provide pedestrians easy and safe access to schools, shopping centres and public bus stops. The proposed flyovers are to have escalators and covered air-conditioned passages.
