Barwa Real Estate celebrated International Labour Day on May 1 by organising a football championship among Barwa employees and its migrant workers at the Al Khor Sports Complex.
The activity was part of Barwa’s social responsibility campaign “Moqadereen,” which means appreciation and gratitude in Arabic.
The annual event was aimed at extending thanks and appreciation to workers and employees in their efforts to build Qatar. Barwa conveyed its message of respect by arranging activities that involved bosses, employees and workers.
The Al Khor Sports Complex for Workers provides an integrated leisure-based space for recreation and sports activities. The project consists of four cricket fields, four football fields, three volleyball fields, four basketball fields and four Kabaddi fields.
Ahmad Abdulla al-Abdulla, Director Group, real estate development and asset management at Barwa, addressed the workers and appreciated their endless efforts and significant contribution to Qatar. He also distributed giveaways to workers who attended the activity.
Barwa values the individuality and diversity that every worker brings to its business. The group seeks to create an environment of mutual respect, transparency and teamwork. All of this is part of the bigger picture, a corporate strategy that aims to achieve sustainable growth through building a solid society, where ‘different social categories’ live in harmony, achieved by reducing their social differences.
Barwa is also keen to address workers’ community through various projects and activities, and wants to instil ethics that draw the lines for positive interaction with workers.
Barwa is now utilising its capabilities to focus on projects for workers such as the Al Khor Sports Complex and Barwa Al Baraha (workers accommodation) that is built with a capacity to accommodate 53,000 workers.
