Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has announced its plans to launch the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute in Qatar.

The announcement was made during the second Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare.

The Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute will focus on healthcare improvement in Hamad and Qatar, working closely with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), the leading organisation for healthcare improvement worldwide.

The new institute builds on Hamad’s partnership with the IHI in helping share international best practice tools and methodologies, focusing on patient safety and reviewing how teams can work together to improve the quality of care.

It will cement HMC’s position at the forefront of healthcare improvement in Qatar and build upon work that is already under way by Hamad’s Centre for Healthcare Improvement (CHI) and other teams that are proactively working to improve the quality of care across the organisation.

The Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute will include a number of divisions spanning a range of priority areas in the healthcare improvement field.

These will include Health Research, Innovation and Improvement, Implementation and Knowledge Transfer and Education.

These plans to establish new services and solutions highlight HMC’s continued commitment to its patients and its ongoing leadership and vision in the field of healthcare improvement in Qatar.

This was demonstrated when HMC managing director Dr Hanan al-Kuwari and IHI president and CEO Maureen Bisognano signed a memorandum of understanding, paving the way for the establishment of the new institute during the Middle East Forum. “Hamad Medical Corporation is leading the way in healthcare improvement across Qatar and the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute will continue to progress our mission of providing world-class healthcare. We are delighted to be playing such a major role in innovation and safety in healthcare,” said al-Kuwari.

“The launch of the new Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute is another great step forward for Hamad Medical Corporation in focusing on understanding current patient safety culture and reviewing how teams within the organisation can work together to improve the quality of care,” said Bisognano.

The Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare is the leading conference on healthcare improvement in the Middle East and is visited by healthcare experts from across the globe.
