National Car Company (NCC), Qatar’s sole agent of Mazda Motor Corporation, Japan, is expecting to sell some 700 units of the new 2015 Mazda 3 in the remaining months of this year.

This was the projection of NCC sales manager Firoz Khan, who spoke to Gulf Times on the sidelines of the launching of the new 2015 Mazda 3 held at the company’s showroom yesterday.

Khan said the 2015 Mazda 3 boasts of more safety features compared its predecessors. “And these new and expanded safety features will definitely boost the sales of the new Mazda 3,” he said.

This was echoed by Japanese Ambassador Shingo Tsuda, who noted the car’s “great performance.”

“I believe the sales of the new Mazda 3 will be okay judging by the performance of the car. For me, the most important factor to consider is driving pleasure, the vehicle is environment-friendly, and its overall performance,” Tsuda said.

Khan expressed confidence that in the remaining eight months in 2014, NCC will be able to match last year’s sales of 700 units.

“This year, we are planning to sell about nearly 700 vehicles but that depends on the supply from the manufacturer,” Khan said.

He explained that after Mazda transferred to its new showroom last year, the NCC was able to double its car sales compared to 2012 figures.

Khan added that the NCC had yet to receive any advisory from the Japanese carmaker on the number of new cars to be delivered to Qatar but he noted that at least 150 units of the 2015 Mazda 3 were currently available.

NCC managing director Wafik Faik attributed to Mazda’s strong sales to the solid backing extended by its management.

“Strong support from the company management has enabled Mazda to double its sales in Qatar in this short span. It is a performance that is symbolic of National Car Company’s long association with Mazda,” Faik said in his speech.

NCC has been the sole agent in Qatar for Mazda Motor Corporation, Japan since 1973, he said.

“The Mazda 3 is well-received in more than 120 countries. The launching of the 2015 Mazda 3 will set the standard in its category with the most innovative features that heighten the pleasure of driving with the highest levels of safety,” Faik added.

The 2015 Mazda 3 is engineered with the full complement of Skyactiv Technology, a proprietary suite of performance-driven components and manufacturing philosophies as well as the handsome styling of the “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design language.

In addition, world-class safety is assured with the adoption of the latest iteration of Mazda’s proprietary i-ActiveSense, and an advanced “human-machine interface” that has safe driving as its top priority.

Also, MZD Connect, the new in-vehicle connectivity system, offers access to the Internet and a host of the latest services.

Drivers will experience a remarkably linear response from the choice of a MSR 1.6 engine (4-speed automatic transmission) and Skyactiv 2.0 gasoline engines (6-speed automatic transmission).
