Solomon Bozeman produced a fine display of shooting to help Al Sadd score a 102-90 win over Qatar Sports Club in the Emir’s Cup basketball tournament at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall last evening.
Showing remarkable accuracy, Bozeman poured in 33 points, while Alpha Bangura shot 21 as Al Sadd led throughout the match to clinch a clinical win.
Bozeman converted all of his 11 free-throws and scored off nine of his 16 field goal attempts as Al Sadd led 36-16 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Bozeman also shot four three-pointers, while Bangura had three.
Banjamin Southall and Abdulrahman Sadd also excelled for Al Sadd with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
For Qatar Sports Club, Leslie Chauncey scored a game-high 37 only to end up on the losing side. Chauncey scored off 12 of his 19 field goal attempts and shot seven off 13 three-point chances to prevent his team from falling far too behind.
Melquan Bolding and Felix Gregory shot 22 and 19 respectively for the losers.
In the second match of the day, El Jaish thrashed Al Khor 77-59 with Nathaniel Johnson starring with 19 points for the winners.
El Jaish were comfortably ahead throughout the match and faced only a slight hiccup in the second quarter when Al Khor hit a rare purple patch to score 19 points to get within two points of the winners (35-33).
However by the time the third period ended El Jaish had taken a near-unassailable 61-45 lead which they took advantage of to complete what was an easy win in the end.
Mohamed Ahmed gave Johnson able support by scoring 13, while Hani Abilmona had 10.
For Al Khor, moustapha Niang scored 19 points, while Antwon Hardy and Osman Mohamed had 12 apiece.
