A long-awaited independent report commissioned by Qatar’s Labour and Social Affairs Ministry on the treatment of workers is due to be published by the end of the week. Representatives from the human rights subcommittee of the European parliament, in Doha this week, have  been told to expect significant changes to  labour laws. The ministry had commissioned the international law firm of DLA Piper to make “an independent review of allegations of failure to enforce certain international conventions on the treatment of workers, most notably, the Forced Labour Convention”.
