Abdurrahman bin Jassim al-Thani holding talks with the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with the Arab peninsula in Doha yesterday. They discussed aspects of co-operation between Qatar and the European Parliament and ways of developing them, as well as issues of common interest.

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari met a visiting delegation of the European Parliament, led by Angelica Niebler, at Bait Al Hikma (House of Wisdom) Centre at the Ministry Headquarters here yesterday.

The meeting was attended by a number of ministry officials.

Talks during the meeting dealt with aspects of co-operation between Qatar and the EU member states in the cultural and artistic areas and means of further enhancing it.

The talks also touched on the Qatar UK 2013, which is a year-long cultural exchange programme between the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom.

The programme aims to strengthen bilateral relations by creating lasting partnerships between institutions and individuals. Mutual recognition, understanding and appreciation of Qatari and British cultures are cultivated through over 70 entertaining and educational events throughout the year in both nations.

The European Parliament delegation was given a presentation by the Minister on the Qatari cultural scene and support the sector receives from the country’s leadership.
