The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD), representing the Ministry of Interior, celebrated the World Civil Defence Day yesterday at a function at the Officers Club in the headquarters of GDCD in Wadi Al-Sail. |
Speaking on behalf of the director general Brigadier Abdullah al-Suwaidi, GDCD’s Operations Department director Brigadier Hamad al-Duhaimi congratulated the civil defence personnel.
“The process of development and modernisation of the GDCD in recent years is progressing well, in line with the massive urban development taking place in the country.”
During the ceremony, a group of students from Qatar Primary Independent School presented a skit on the importance using fire extinguishers and following safety procedures at houses and camping facilities. Artiste Hussein al-Marri presented a choir entitled “for your safety, Qatar”.
At the end of the ceremony, Brigadier al-Duhaimi, honoured the heads of GDCD departments; Brigadier Jamal Jaafar (Operations Department), Brigadier Ibrahim al-Muftah (director of Prevention Department), Colonel Fahd al-Kubaisi (director of Administration Affairs Department) and Major Hussein al-Asmakh (director of Logistics Department).
