A British tourist has drowned while snorkeling in the Maldives, local media reported yesterday.
The accident occurred near the Biyadhoo Resort, in the scenic Indian Ocean group of
islands.
Police said that the 65-year-old man was reported missing in the evening, and he was found dead off Biyadhoo Resort around an hour later.
His death was confirmed by Kaafu Maafushi health centre, local media outlet Sun Mv
reported.
Incidents of tourists drowning have increased over the past few years, and efforts are under way by the ministry of tourism in co-operation with resort owners to take measures to prevent such accidents, the report added.
