The kids showed a lot of spunk and tackles were flying left right and centre. It was an entertaining sight for the spectators, most of whom had never seen an American football game before.

By Sports Reporter/Doha

American football is still an alien sight in Doha. But recently, on February 28, the first-ever American football game took place at the Aspire as the Qatar Camels hosted the Park House Peregrines. It was an exciting event for the spectators present who saw the local side beat the visitors 41-21.
It was the Camels who opened the scoring with two quick touchdown passes in the first half. The Peregrines then got their game together and responded with two touchdowns of their own to level the score. But just before halftime, the Camels were able to hang on to a long scoring pass and took the lead with the score at 21-14.
The momentum was with the Camels as the second half started and they scored two more touchdowns. After the offence it was the turn of the Camels defence to snatch the limelight as they forced the game turning play – a 90-yard interception that ended up in a touchdown. The Peregrines had a long drive late in the second half but the Camels were able to hold firm for the win. It was a hard fought game between the two teams and the rivalry will resume when the two face each other in two weeks’ time.

The players had some loud vocal support from these set of fans.
