Qatar Charity’s CEO Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari met with Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Isesco) director general Dr Abdul Aziz al-Tuwaijri to discuss the Joint Action Plan for 2014-2015 and the possibility of co-operating in the implementation of a number of projects, particularly the regional educational centre to support the teaching of Arabic and Islamic education in Chad and neighbouring countries.
The meeting was also attended by QC officials Mohamed Ali al-Ghamdi (executive director for international development), Abdrabi ben Sahraa (director of planning and international co-operation), and Khalid Ounallah (director of follow-up) and Isesco’s international co-operation director Dr Ahmed Said Ould Bah.
Al-Kuwari and al-Tuwaijri discussed their visions on issues of common interest in the fields of education, science and culture and co-operation between the two sides, the challenges of Muslim communities in Europe, educational curricula and others.
Previous consultations which took place at the end of last year also involved the parties discussing the Joint Action Plan for 2014-15, which will include a number of projects aimed at strengthening co-operation between the parties and contributing to the development of education, science and culture in the targeted countries, with the regional educational centre in Chad at the forefront of the co-operation.
The religious centre is a co-operation between Isesco and the Chadian government, which will contribute to the project, which supports the teaching of Arabic and Islamic education, the transplantation of pedagogical skills and learning abilities across Chad. QC allocated a grant of $500,000 to contribute to the establishment of this centre of which QC will become a board member.
It was agreed to hold a trilateral meeting at the headquarters of Isesco in Rabat in the near future, comprising QC, Isesco and the Islamic Development Bank, in order to consult on the technical, financial and operational aspects of some projects. QC and Isesco formed a co-operation agreement in March 1998, which was renewed in November 2006.
