Knowledge transfer and capacity building within Qatar’s oil and gas sector were the key objectives for ConocoPhillips to stage a three-day seminar for more than 20 experts from Qatargas and Qatar Petroleum.
ConocoPhillips hosted the “Introduction to Collaboration for Decision Quality” seminar for the professionals “to help them build and develop their capacities and knowledge.”
The seminar was presented by Dr Jeffery Cooke, a consultant for ConocoPhillips’s collaboration for decision quality group, and provided a framework of processes and tools “to fully understand, characterise and derive viable solutions to complex investment decisions.”
ConocoPhillips Qatar vice president and commercial manager Frank Feghali said the company “is delighted to host the seminar,” and noted that “decision-making is a core business function of every organisation and learning effective strategies to manage this process is the key.”
Feghali said the seminar’s training session follows the “ongoing active collaboration between ConocoPhillips Qatar, Qatargas and QP and comes as part of ConocoPhillips’ commitment to transferring knowledge and capacity building to the oil and gas sector in Qatar.”
“Recently, ConocoPhillips gave an interactive seminar, which provided a framework for building models in Microsoft Excel to participants from the marketing, sales administration, shipping and corporate strategic planning departments of Qatargas and QP,” Feghali added. ConocoPhillips, which has numerous environmental, social, health and education initiatives in Qatar, also operates the Global Water Sustainability Centre (GWSC) in Doha located at the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP).
Scientists at the GWSC also host technical workshops, such as the recent one on “Produced Water Treatment and Sea Water Desalination” which was presented to technical staff from QP research and technology, Qatargas, and QP Dukhan. The workshop featured expert engineers and scientists from ConocoPhillips Technology in Houston and the GWSC in Doha.
