Sarcar, the manufacturer of some of the most luxurious watches in the world, is showcasing one of its unique pieces at Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition 2014.

Named the North Star and launched at the Baselworld exhibition in 2012, the watch is a spectacular one with a rotating princess cut diamond of 2.15 carats. It is the only one of its kind and is priced at QR6mn.

Speaking to Gulf Times, Maya Koenig of Sarcar Watches said this is the first time that the watch is being displayed in Qatar. “It is a unique piece. It was launched worldwide in 2012 and showcased at many exhibitions. Earlier, we could turn 1-carat diamond in our collections and now we are turning 2-carat diamond. All the diamonds in the watch are officially certified by the authorities concerned,”
she said.

Maya also highlighted that as it is a unique piece, the watch is on a world tour. “It has already made a tour of most of the prominent places. It was in China and in many parts of Europe. It was also taken to America and now it is in the Middle East.”

The official pointed out that the Doha market is a very important one for the company. “This is an important market for us as we have a great number of loyal patrons in the country. We are aware of their needs and demands and are looking to meet them with utmost satisfaction,” she added.

Maya said it took almost three years for the entire manufacture and launch of the watch in the market. “It took more than two years to complete the technical study for the watch as it needed a lot of efforts to make a watch with diamonds alone. Then, it took more than six months to manufacture the product. Everything in the watch is hand-made and hand-set,” she explained.

Commenting on the features of the watch, Maya said the North Star is a unique piece in many ways. “It has all the signatures of Sarcar. It has the moving element. This is the biggest dream that we have been able to realise so far. Our next target is to improve on this achievement and come up with something more spectacular.”
