QVC had an easy 74-run victory over AlFardan in Division II of the 9th IBQ Masters Cricket Tournament 2014.
AlFardan won the toss and elected to field first. QVC took advantage of batting first and scored a mammoth 197 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Mushir top scored for QVC with 40 runs before he was run out. His innings included four sixes and two fours. Hidayat scored 26 runs with 3 sixes and 1 boundary, Upul was out for 22 runs with 2 sixes and 1 boundary and Shaman scored 21 runs while Ramzan contributed 18 runs. For AlFardan Tanveer took wickets while Mehraj, Elangesh, Shabaaz and Abbas took one wicket each.
Batting second is always a pressure scenario, especially when your opponent has scored almost 200 runs in 20 overs. AlFardan batsmen couldn’t handle the pressure and lost three wickets in the second over with QVC’s Subash being the destroyer. Faizan (3 runs), Elangesh (3 runs) and Mufees (1 run) were the wickets lost in the third over and AlFardan were left tottering at 7/3. Akram tried to repair the damage and remained 36 not out having scored two sixes and one boundary. But without support from his teammates, Akram couldn’t do much. Abbas was the only other batsman to reach double figures scoring 17 runs. Eventually AlFardan were all out for 123 runs. Apart from Subash’s three wickets, Jameel and Shaman took two wickets each while Mushir, Ramazan and Zaheer took a wicket each.
QVC’s Mushir won the Man of the Match for the final.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well-wishers. Over 350 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament. The prize distribution also had a lucky draw for the spectators.
