Deputy PM meets Ingushetia officials
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah
al-Mahmoud holding talks with Ahmet Palankoev, the representative of Ingushetia to the Russian Council of Federation and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Council, and his
accompanying delegation which includes Mufti of Ingushetia Sheikh Issa Khamkhoev and
executive director of the Russian Islamic Fund Luai Yousif. During the meeting, they reviewed
co-operation between Qatar and Ingushetia. The meeting was attended by a number of officials at the Cabinet General Secretariat.
FM praises ties with Kuwait
HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah met Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah in Doha yesterday. The Foreign Minister praised the relationship between the two countries and wished the government of Kuwait and its people further progress and prosperity on the occasion of the National Day.
Emir issues decrees
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued the following decrees:
1. Decree No 9 of 2014 ratifying a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador, which was signed in Antiguo on 07/10/2013. It will have the power of law as per Article No 68 of the Constitution.
2. Decree No 10 of 2014 ratifying a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for conducting political consulations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar and Panama, which was signed in Panama on 10/10/2013 and to have the power of law as per article No 68 of the Constitution.
3. Decree No 11 of 2014 endorsing the general agreement for power link between the GCC member-states, which was signed in Doha on 12/03/2009. It will have the force of law as per Article No 68 of the Constitution.
Draft agreements, MoUs ratified
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday ratified the following:
1. A draft accord on economic, trade and technical co-operation between Qatar and Nepal which was signed in Doha on 16/06/2005.
2. An agreement exempting the official biometric passports from entry visa conditions between the governments of Qatar and Germany which was signed in Berlin on 16/04/2013.
A biometric passport, also known as an e-passport or a digital passport, is a combined paper and electronic passport that contains biometric information that can be used to authenticate the identity of travellers.
3. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) in education, higher education and scientific research between the governments of Qatar and Peru, which was signed in Lima on 14/02/2013.
4. An air service agreement between the governments of Qatar and Colombia, which was signed in Bogota on 15/02/2013.
5. An agreement on economic, trade and technical co-operation between the governments of Qatar and Ecuador, which was signed in Quito on 16/02/2013.
6 A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the ministries of foreign affairs in Qatar and Ecuador, which was signed in Quito on 16/02/2013.
Emir issues law on regulation of food control
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Law No 4 of 2014 amending some provisions of Law No 8 of 1990 on the regulation of human food control.
The decision is operative and to be published in the Official Gazette.
Cabinet decision ratified
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday ratified the Cabinet’s decision No 16 of 2014 on the expropriation of some properties for public benefit.
The decision is operative as of the date of issue and to be published in the Official Gazette.
Message from Peruvian cultureminister
HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari yesterday received a written message from Peruivian culture minister.
The letter contained an invitation addressed to HE al-Kuwari to visit Peru and discuss co-operation in the culture, arts and research projects as well as exchange of expertise.
The Peruvian Ambassador accredited to Qatar Julio Florian handed over the letter during a meeting with al-Kuwari yesterday.
Minister meets UN official
HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari met Dr Taleb Rifai, the Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organisation (WTO), currently on a visit to Doha.
During the meeting, they discussed the common elements that unite culture and tourism and the importance of taking advantage of this integration to develop both sectors. They also reviewed aspects of co-operation with the international organisation in this regard.
QSC elects new president
HE Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani was unanimously elected president of Qatar Sports Club (QSC).
The election was held at the club’s general assembly meeting which accepted the resignation of the QSC’s former president HE Sheikh Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani.
