Porsche’s “Platinum Editions” are on display at Qatar Motor Show 2014.
Company officials said yesterday that they were upgrading the Cayenne six-cylinder models through a special series. The Cayenne and Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition have come with exterior design features in Platinum Silver and a wider range of standard equipment.
The star attraction of the company pavilion, however, was the Porsche Macan Turbo that made its regional debut at the motor show.
The Macan, the company officials said, has sporty features, for which the brand’s vehicles are well-known for. The vehicle’s design and performance, they added, are inspired by other sports cars of the company, such as the 911 and the 918 Spyder. The two models are also exhibited at the pavilion.
Christer Ekberg, managing director of Porsche Middle East and North Africa, said the car is the fifth model series and is set to revolutionise the segment with an unmatchable performance. The official also expressed hope that the new Macan would contribute considerably to the company’s growth across the Middle East in the coming year.
The Cayenne Platinum Edition offers an output of 300hp with an average fuel consumption is 9.9litres/100 km (236 g/km CO2). Featuring a three-litre V6 engine, the Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition offers an output of 245hp and a consumption level of 7.2litres over 100km (189 g/km CO2).
The new models are sold in the GCC at $69,318 (Cayenne Platinum Edition) and $69,575 (Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition), respectively.
The enhanced equipment range available for the new models is specially designed to increase comfort and safety, said the Porsche officials.
The Cayenne Platinum Edition models feature standard Tiptronic S transmission, bi-xenon headlights, power steering plus, ParkAssist (front and rear) and privacy glazing in the rear.
All special-edition models come with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM), including a navigation module. The PCM features a high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen and a sound system with 11 loudspeakers and total power of 235watt.
