Audi yesterday revealed the new A8 range for the Middle East at Qatar Motor Show 2014, which also had the “surprise” regional premiere of the Audi nanuk quattro concept show car.
Representative of the entirely new A8 model lineup is an Audi A8 L at the motor show, which runs until February 25 at Qatar National Convention Centre.
Also present at the stand are the Audi Q3, Q5 and Q7 - the SUV range – as well as the RS 7 sports sedan and the S3 sedan.
Audi had recently announced a historic record year in terms of sales, with a total of 10,647 cars sold, and intends to maintain the momentum with further model introductions in the region in 2014, said Trevor Hill, managing director of Audi Middle East. “With the new models revealed today, we still have several surprises for Audi fans to look forward to this year.”
With the unveiling of the new A8 range, Audi presented one of its most innovative leaders in the luxury segment, the company said in a statement.
Audi has exhaustively updated its A8 flagship. New assistance systems and the innovative Matrix LED headlights make for even more superior driving, according to the statement.
Audi’s innovative Matrix LED comprises 25 small, individual light-emitting diodes per unit that can be switched on and off or dimmed individually as needed. This enables the headlight system to react to oncoming or preceding vehicles and blank out light with great precision while continuing to fully illuminate the rest of the road.
The Audi A8 range is available with four different engines: 50 TFSI with 310hp, 60 TFSI with 435hp, W12 FSI with 500hp and the S8 TFSI with 520hp.
The new Audi A8 is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in the Middle East in the first quarter of 2014. Despite the more generous list of equipment and more powerful engines, prices vary only slightly.
Audi presented the nanuk quattro concept show car - sportiness in a new form – for the first time at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main in 2013 and now exclusively in the Middle East at Qatar Motor Show.
Its crossover concept combines the dynamics of a high-performance sports car with Audi’s quattro expertise on the road, on the race track and also off the road. The V10 TDI engine sets benchmarks for power
and efficiency.
The two-seater is powered by a newly developed V10 TDI installed longitudinally in front of the rear axle. The powerful 5.0litre diesel engine produces over 544 hp and delivers 1,000Nm of torque to the crankshaft from just 1,500rpm.
