Reach Out to Asia (Rota) and Qatar Charity (QC) have signed an agreement under which the two organisations will work together to improve the quality of education in government schools in the West Bank.
The agreement was signed by Rota executive director Essa al-Mannai and QC executive officer Yousuf bin Ahmed al-Kuwari in Doha, in the presence of senior officials of both organisations.
Under the terms of agreement, the two parties will collaborate to develop and upgrade the educational sector in the West Bank, through the development of educational facilities, methods and capacity-building for teachers and students.
Rota is committed to reaching out to the Arab world, to provide those in need with quality education and has identified the development of education opportunities and resources for youth in countries of the Middle East, as critical to achieving its mission. The field of “education and culture” is considered as one of the four main strategic directions of QC programmes and projects.
The agreement commits the parties to promoting a culture of reading among school-age children and empowering their educational, behavioural and physical skills through sports activities, while promoting the use of the Arabic language and the development of educational resources in Arabic.
“I believe the partnership between Rota and Qatar Charity is a major step and the beginning of a fruitful collaboration. Our organisational strengths mutually complement each other very well but, perhaps most importantly, we both recognise the need to promote innovative new approaches to charitable giving, promoting sustainable long-term educational development for the Arab world,” said al-Mannai.
Drawing from its experience and expertise, Rota will provide funds and other resources for the QC project, which complement and support its mission.
“We are confident that this partnership will go a long way in expanding our efforts and creating opportunities that will improve the lives of many people in the quest for a more equal society, and thereby make a difference,” said al-Kuwari.
