Defending champion Abdulrahman al-Malki defeated Azlan Amjad to retain the title in the professional category at the InterContinental Squash Tournament, organised under the aegis of the Qatar Squash Federation.
Al-Malki rallied back into the match with a win in the fifth game, after Amjad leveled the score 2-2 in the fourth.
The women’s crown was bagged by Mayar al-Saka, who defeated Alaa Hisham 11-6 11-8 11-8 in close games.
Sadam Mehawesh bagged the men’s Level B crown after beating Abdel Wahab Ishaq 11-0 8-11 11-2 11-7 over four games.
William Roland finished on the top in the men’s Over 45 category, with a 11-7 11-7 13-11 victory over Mohamed Naiel in the decider.
InterContinental Doha Resident manager Gilles Nicolas and Qatar Squash Federation board member Mohamed al-Khulaifi were present at the prize distribution, and gave away the trophies and gifts. QSF technical secretary Gamal Rasmi conducted the closing ceremony.
About 166 entries were received in 10 categories of the tournament, co-sponsored by Go Sport and Sportwell.
