A Qatari delegation led by Dr Abdullah Yusuf al-Mal, Legal Adviser to the Minister of Interior (MoI), has met with the heads of Interpol at its headquarters in Lyon, France.

The delegates were received by Ronald Noble, Secretary General of Interpol. Among the Qatar dignitaries were Brig Abdul Aziz Abdullah al-Ansari, Director of the Logistics Department; Brig. Khalifa Nasr al-Nasr, Director of the Arab & International Police Communication Department; and Brig Bader Ebrahim al-Ghanim, Director of the Technical Office for the MoI.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance and deepen co-operation between Qatar and Interpol. These included the co-operation agreement to be signed between Interpol and Qatar Police College and an initiative that was announced in 2012 on the support of Interpol for the safety and security of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The meeting also deliberated on the services provided by Interpol to member-states in the fight against organised crime, terrorism and financial and cyber crime.

The MoI has co-ordinated with Interpol to develop the skills of police officers in the State as they attended a three-month training workshop on different areas together with combating trafficking in illicit goods, the fight against human trafficking, police operations and the use of modern technologies for investigation.
