Qatar Petroleum (QP)’s Gas Operations recently organised a traffic safety campaign in co-ordination with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and with the participation of Karwa, Maersk Oil Qatar and Qatargas.

The two-day campaign was attended by about 400 QP Gas Operations officials and employees in Mesaieed Industrial City. Among its main objectives were to educate the staff on proper driving methods, increase their awareness on common traffic violations and inform them about the ministry’s various services and programmes related to road safety.

On the first day of the campaign, Ibrahim Abdulla Taimour, manager of field support (Gas Operations), welcomed all the participants, speakers and other guests on behalf of Eid Mubarak al-Muhannadi, operations manager (Gas Operations), QP.

He expressed gratitude and appreciation for the support provided by the MoI, Karwa and other participating companies to the campaign and encouraged the staff to familiarise themselves with everything related to traffic safety.

Speakers from the MoI and Karwa then gave presentations that focused on traffic rules and regulations in Qatar, how to avoid getting involved in road accidents, as well as on how to use the Metrash2 e-services being offered by the ministry on its website.

Each presentation was followed by a question-and-answer session to clarify any enquiries from the participants and to ensure that they fully understood the topics discussed by the speakers.

As part of the traffic safety campaign, the participants also had the opportunity to use a driving simulator and experience first-hand why it is important to wear a seatbelt at all times. The simulators were provided by Karwa, Qatargas and by Maersk Oil Qatar under its “One Second” campaign.

The campaign ended with the exchange of mementoes between the MoI and QP.
