The era of new politics

I really feel that there has been no significant change in India since its independence in 1947 as only a fresh breed of colonialists, known as “politicians”, started ruling the country in place of the foreign ones. One set of colonialists have been replaced by another, that is all. The new colonialists, as their predecessors, have had no interest in the country’s welfare and their sole motive is to fill their profits. Greed is their motto. Their policy guidelines spring from “ideals” like corruption, crime and “dynasty politics” and it doesn’t matter whether they are left , right or centre!
A billion people, annoyed by dirty politics and misgovernance, started looking to a new method of politics, spearheaded by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from last year.
A former Revenue Service officer, named Arvind Kejriwal, brought a ray of hope for millions of desperate Indians. Kejriwal gave a new hope to people who now believed that India could still be saved from the clutches of filthy politics and corruption.
Kejriwal came into power in the Union Territory-state of Delhi with a not-so-overwhelming majority. The two main parties, dominating national politics, were not at all amused and began to create roadblocks on the path of the young AAP. Amidst all the hindrances, Kejriwal took a series of popular and smart decisions. But controversies haunted AAP as it was less experienced. But with a honest attitude and will, the party survived 49 days in power and finally had to quit as all the money-minded political groups and greedy corporate bodies joined forces against it.
As re-elections are on the cards, the voters’ mandate ought to be in favour of “the new politics”, not only in India’s capital but also in the entire country.
