A large number of families from all backgrounds and different nationalities flocked to Aspire Park from the early morning yesterday to enjoy a special day dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles.
Until the evening hours yesterday families experienced a unique day of fun, motivation and joy coupled with the warm sun and fine weather. Further, many public and private entities featured their specially-tailored activities for their staff and employees at various designated areas of the park. Most activities were family-oriented with special focus on children and youngsters.
The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) offered various activities for children and provided them with free games such as colouring activities, bouncy castles and gave them a healthy gift. Children were asked to line up holding a rope and proceed forward step by step holding the rope to receive their gift. The gift bag had an apple, an orange, a banana, a crunchy biscuit and a bottle of water.
Most mothers praised the gift and saw that it is a sign of encouragement for their kids to consume healthy and fresh foods rather than junk and processed products.
“I am happy that they did not give chocolates, sweets or candies. It is really a good initiative from PHC as a health organisation,” said Suzanne from France.
Further, all games and toys were supervised by health workers to ensure the safety of children, as there was a huge turnout and an ever increasing number of children were waiting to have their go throughout the day.
Besides PHCC, some private clinics gave free bio-measures for the park’s visitors such as measuring the sugar levels in blood, blood pressure, weight and height, giving them a printout with results alongside the normal and acceptable rates for these.
The park was full of enthusiastic activities with different groups of people playing various group games with a small-scale matches such as football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and foosball, while children were busy running everywhere, jumping on bouncy castles, riding small size bikes, using the various games at children game area or watching the ducks swimming at the park’s artificial lake.
Many also enjoyed a relaxing day in the open air and warm sun surrounded with vegetation and water.
“It is really a lovely day here, whether you exercise or just relax with your family and friends on the green grass. We can only express out gratitude for the leadership of Qatar in giving us such an opportunity which is rare to be available elsewhere in the world and be sponsored by the government as a paid holiday for all,” said a Jordanian businessman.
