Vodafone Qatar, Oryx Sponsor of the recently-held GCC Digital Security Forum, discussed the importance of telecommunications security at the event.
George Galica, head of Business Solutions at Vodafone Qatar, showcased Vodafone’s Secure Device Management service - which helps businesses better protect their company data - and Vodafone Mobile Threat Manager.
As a world leader in Machine to Machine (M2M) services, Vodafone also discussed the emerging threats to M2M deployments and the responsibility of the telecommunications operator in ensuring a secure environment in the implementation of Smart City applications.
“As smartphone and tablet adoption in businesses is exploding, so does the threat of a data or security breach. Vodafone has used its Global Enterprise security experience to be ready to deploy these services and solutions in Qatar today. It is exciting to be the only telecoms provider in Qatar to be able to offer these best-in-class services,” Galica said.
Vodafone’s Secure Device Management, the first with local support in Qatar, enables IT managers or administrators within an organisation to securely and remotely manage all of their smartphones and tablets.
This means that these devices can be remotely locked and wiped if they have been stolen, tracked via their GPS locator if they are lost or can have their mobile apps remotely managed to ensure that employees have all the tools they need to get their job done while out of the office.
Vodafone Mobile Threat Manager works across all networks, scanning traffic to and from the company’s mobile devices in order to safeguard against malicious attacks and block inappropriate content without impacting on device performance.
