The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested two men on charges of stealing valuables from cars in different parts of Doha.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior, the two Arab men were apprehended after the police received several complaints from residents about incidences of theft from their vehicles.
The burglars used to break the windshields of vehicles to access the cash or other costly things kept inside, the statement said.
“During intensified patrols around the places that were suspected of having the presence of the suspects, one of them was identified and a trap was laid to nab him red-handed.”
His modus operandi was to follow his victims until they parked their vehicles, leaving the valuables inside.
The suspect used to smash the windshield  of the car,  steal the money and other valuables and escape from the scene immediately.
After the first suspect was nabbed red-handed, he led the police to his accomplice who was also taken into custody.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they had stolen money and valuables from a number of cars belonging to both citizens and expatriates. Stolen money and the tools used for committing the crime were seized from their residence.
