Garrick Porteous stayed on top, while his overnight lead partner Christian Eisenring of Denmark slipped on day two of the Qatar Open Amateur Golf at Doha Golf Club yesterday.
The Englishman hit a two-under 70, while Eisenring dropped to the fifth position with a bogey-laden five over.
Thomas Strandemo of United States, who had managed to stay at par on day one, produced an impressive four-under 68 performance to give Porteous company in the lead.
Defending champion Max Williams moved up to the third sport with a two-under effort and is three shots off the top.
Meanwhile, all the five Qatar national team players made the cut with Ali al-Bishi returning with a par round for two-day total of five-over.
Al-Bishi is in the seventh place, while teammate Ali Saleh al-Kaabi was joint eighth with Denmark’s Oliver Percy Smith.
Ghanem Mubarak al-Kuwari was 23rd, Faisal Mir 40th and Abdulrahman al-Shahrani 47th after the second day.
