Evolution Sports Academy at Doha College, launched in sponsorship with Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Limited (Oxy Qatar) has installed a brand new 3G soccer pitch.
The partnership with Oxy has allowed Evolution Sports to realise its goal of housing all sports under one roof while also further improving the member experience at the academy, the academy said in a statement.
The 3G pitch has already begun to turn heads of members, the general public and college students and staff, it said.
President and general manager of Oxy Qatar Steve Kelly said: “Oxy Qatar supports the objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle where it is most effective among young people and Evolution Sports accomplishes this by providing professional, qualified coaching to children of all ability levels and across all communities.
“With its diverse sports courses now housed under one roof, the academy’s quality and member satisfaction will only improve. The development of Evolution Sports in such a brief span is inspirational, and we look forward to its continuing expansion across a variety of sports.”
Evolution Academy manager Tommy Westmoreland said: “The financial support of Oxy Qatar is a massive opportunity, not just for Evolution Sports members but the wider community to get involved in sport. With a state-of-the-art 3G soccer pitch, the construction of new outdoor netball courts and the installation of brand new indoor cricket nets, Doha College is fast becoming a sporting centre for children and adults in the local area.”
Westmoreland said Evolution Sports has almost doubled the number of members in the last 12 months throughout its sport courses.
“I am personally delighted to see an influx of new members from the Qatari community - not to mention the huge number of girls joining enabling the sports academy to branch out into girls-only soccer.
