The Forbes Middle East CEOs Forum was recently held in Dubai. Ahmad Nasser Sraiya al-Kaabi, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in business from Qatar University, grew up alongside renowned business gurus in Qatar owing to his family business roots, Al Sraiya Holding, which manages over 40 companies in the country.
Al-Kaabi made his way through the different departments in the company before being appointed as MD and CEO of Mawashi.
He is also chief operating officer of Al Sraiya Holding, CEO of Qatar Project for Agricultural and Animal Farming in Sudan, member on the board of Mawashi Qatar-TRAFCO Bahrain Company, Qatar-Sudan Business Board, Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Chamber of Commerce’s environmental and agricultural committee; and member of board of directors of Dawhat Al Khaleej in Sudan.
In May 2012, al-Kaabi was also recognised as one of the pioneers of the Arab food security industry at the second edition of the Arab Forum for Food Industry and Food Security in the UAE.
Mawashi recently announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2012 with net profits reaching QR62.1mn for the period ending September 30. The company’s net profits surged by around 50% or by QR20.5mn, over the same period last year when the company registered QR41.5mn.
Listed on the Qatar Exchange, Mawashi was founded in 2004 with the aim of meeting Qatar’s market needs in meat and livestock.
Mawashi is engaged in the trading of livestock, meat, animal feeds, meat derivatives and the management of slaughterhouses. It is also part of the Qatar National Food Security Programme.
