Qatar’s embassies in several world capitals held special receptions to celebrate the country’s National Day.
Qatar’s Acting Consul-General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Ahmed bin Saad al-Sulaiti, held a reception which was attended by Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid al-Qasimi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Development and International Co-operation, Sheikh Sultan bin Jamal bin Saqr al-Qasimi, director for the Citizens’ Affairs at of the Ras al-Khaimah (RAK) Emiri Court representing the Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, Marwan Khamees Sheikh, Secretary of Protocols of the Al Fujairah Emiri Court, representing the Ruler of Fujairah and Abdul Rahman Saif al-Ghurair, Board Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI),
The reception was also attended by Qatari military students and Sheikhs, and businessmen along with the consuls accredited in Dubai.
In Katmandu Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal Ahmed Jassim al-Hamar held a reception ceremony to celebrate Qatar’s National Day.
The ceremony was attended by Nepalese Vice-President Parmanand Jha, army chief, a group of ministers, senior foreign ministry officials and Arab and international ambassadors accredited to Nepal.
Business and media personalities were also present along with heads of Islamic centres and associations, political party leaders and representatives of international organisations.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Brazil Mohamed bin Ahmed al Hayki hosted a reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day at the headquarters of FC Porto Vitoria.
The reception was attended by undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil as well as members of the Arab community and representatives of economic institutions and the media.
Representatives from the Qatar Museums Authority also participated in the occasion by giving art and cultural presentations.
In Tokyo, Qatar’s Ambassador to Japan Yousuf Mohamed Bilal held a reception which was attended by a number of senior Japanese officials including MP of the Foreign Minister Takao Makino, Chairman of the Budget Committee of Parliament and Toshihiro Nikai who is also the Chairman of Parliamentary Association for Friendship with Qatar, and the president of the Japanese-Qatari Friendship Association Fumio Kawaguchi, in addition to a large gathering of parliamentarians, leaders of political parties and senior officials of foreign, economy, trade and Industry ministries in addition to members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps in Tokyo, business leaders, public figures and representatives of the Japanese media.
Speaking on the occasion Ambassador Bilal stressed that the relations between Qatar and Japan since its inception 40 years ago has been friendly, characterized by trust and mutual respect and which culminated in booming economic and trade co-operation.
Qatar’s embassies in Macedonia, Albania, Havana and Addis Ababa also held similar events to mark the National Day.
