The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has arrested a number of people who were involved in the production and sale of Swayka, a narcotic substance.
Based on information received by the personnel of the department an intensive search campaign was conducted to identify the dealers and manufacturers of Swayka, a spokesman for the ministry said.
Subsequently, the places were raided with the permission of the prosecutor’s office and a number of the suspects was arrested along with a large quantity of the contraband, which was ready for distribution. Some of the raw materials required for manufacturing it were as also seized.
“The CID had received information about a number of Asian expatriates living at Umm Ghulina and Old Al Ghanim areas who are involved in the manufacture and distribution of Swayka. After further investigations and taking the necessary legal procedures, the CID team managed to raid their accommodations and arrest them with the related materials.”
